Artistic nudes

Manolis Tsantakis
is one of the few lovers of the female nude; he has been studying
it for more than twenty years. His collection of photographs Woman's
Light is the pinnacle of his long and persistent work. The poems
by Stavros Stavropoulos blend with the pictures and complete them.
The combination is harmoniously accomplished.
Language is also a hymn to the woman, to lost love. At the same
time the female figures are transformed within Nature; they become
one. Often language becomes image and image becomes language…
Let us exclude any exterior interference, let us relax for a while
and forget the unwholesome daily routine and let us look with
the eyes of the soul at the photographs and the poems. I am certain
they have a lot to offer. |

| Editorial Reviews
|
| By drawing strength and inspiration
from nature's majesty, as well as from the harmony and grace
in the movement of the female body, this collection entitled
Woman's Light has been created. A celebration, a photographic
journey, a collection of images and poetry that provides a
lyrical and fluid setting for 25 years of work.

| The
nudes here from Manolis Tsantakis are absolutely spellbinding.
All are shot outdoors in the majestic and breathtaking scenery
that is Greece. The rugged splendor of the terrain stands in
stark contrast to the soft and beautiful and utterly feminine
subjects of this book. And it's this eerie juxtaposition that
gives this work its power. The female subjects as well as the
scenery are quite beautiful, but difficult it may be to believe,
there is a feeling of isolation and despondency here. It's not
a negative quality at all, but is instead a melodious sense
of melancholy. It's enchanting ... and that's just what we have
here - and magical collection of imagery from an artist operating
at the height of his power. Hopefully the world will take notice. |

| Manolis Tsantakis and Stavros Stavropoulos, photographer and writer
respectively, are two companions in a photographic album of
poetic emergence - and vice-versa. This work is a pictorial
fusion of coloured words and black and white grains, 24 poems
of an erotic essence entangled together with 72 nude portraits
of women, with the sea of Crete as a background; the result
is a melancholy adventure of the gaze into the inmost recesses
of the female universe. |
